The Guild · Image Licence

The image licence, in plain words

This is the whole deal for the photos a studio or painter shares with us. It's written to be read, not skimmed past. Replying YES to the email that links here counts as your written agreement to these terms, and the thread stays on file for both of us.

What you're giving us

  • A non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to host and display the photos you submit or approve, on thebrushguild.com and in the quote conversations we route to you.
  • Permission to make technical copies only: resizing, cropping for layout, format conversion (WebP/AVIF), light colour management. Nothing else.

What you keep, which is everything else

  • Copyright stays with you. This is permission, not a transfer. No exclusivity: keep posting your work anywhere, license it to anyone.
  • Credit and a link on every appearance: your studio name, linked to your profile, site or Instagram, wherever a photo of yours shows, without exception.
  • Marketing is a separate question. We will not use your photos in ads, social posts or newsletters unless you separately opt in. Listing is not marketing consent.
  • We never remove embedded watermarks or metadata, we never composite your work into other images, and your photos are never used to train AI. Not ours, not anyone's.

What you're confirming

  • You own the photos, or have written permission from the photographer if someone else shot them.
  • The miniatures were genuinely painted by your studio, and client pieces are cleared for portfolio use.
  • Nothing submitted is official Games Workshop artwork, renders, stock or AI imagery.

Leaving

  • Revocable. Ask us to remove any individual image and it's down within 5 working days.
  • If you delist entirely, every photo is removed within 30 days of your delisting taking effect.
  • No lock-in and no perpetual, irrevocable fine print. We know that's the industry standard. It's not ours.

Questions before saying yes? Write to hello@thebrushguild.com and a human answers. How listing itself works is on the studios page.
